Quick fix for taking video notes

Some are familiar with the digital tool VideoNot.es, which allows students to take notes side-by-side with a playing video. It's a great and useful resource... Until it went offline last week. Mysteriously.

Even though it came back after a week, it's still good to have a more reliable "plan b". And this quick fix using Google Slides is arguably the better option in the first place. Here's how to get started:

  • Open up a new presentation
  • Select the "Insert" menu and insert a video from YouTube
  • Double-click the video to begin playing it
  • Use the comments feature to add notes while the video is still playing
  • And...

What makes this better is that it's already a resource students have, and it's super Hapara/Google Classroom friendly.
